iPad… Meet Etcher

So, Decided again to etch my signature Flying Toasters on the iPad. Huge shout out to Phil Torrone over at ADAFruit for letting me brand yet another piece of hardware! Also for the laser etching geeks out there, here are the settings:

100% power and 100% speed with an Epilog 35W laser @ 600dpi

Apple’s Ever Changing Calculator Icon

They’re at it again… But this time it seems for good reason. Does the OS4 folder look like OS3 calculator?

The iPad: Androids Trojan Horse?

As I sit here typing this on an iPad, I’m wondering the fate of my dear little iPhone. The keyboard is small, resolution is low, storage is lacking, processor is slow. Could the iPad have shown there is better devices out there then the iPhone? At launch there is a solid list of beautiful applications. So if I love the Apple touch OS wouldn’t I want the best of breed applications? Yes! Not some second class set of lower resolution hobbled apps.

Enter Android. The NexusOne is a solid machine that has a kick ass processor. OLED screen good battery life and multitasking. What not take the best of both worlds? Root the NexusOne.. Add WiFi tethering and buy an iPad? I see myself doing that in the very near future.

Hey Google… Time to write Apple a thank you note. With the iPad nobody will want the iPhone. Come the dawn of Android.

The JooJoo Tablet Shipped and Unboxed

Wow, Never thought this day would come. Lets first start by saying the packing is beautiful. Too bad the OS isn’t.

Hollywood is More Fake Then You Think

Check out this video from Stargate Studios. Whats being illustrated is how TV and movie studio are using CGI rather then filing on location to cut costs. I was impressed.

DIY: How to Safely Put an Alphanumeric Passcode on your iPhone

Sure the four digit passcode on the iPhone is cool, but looking for something a little more secure you can enable an alphanumeric password on your iPhone with a free utility Apple provides.

First Download the iPhone Configuration Utility from Apple (for Mac or PC, and connect your phone.

Then launch the utility, go to “Configuration Profiles”, “New”. Give it a name and identifier, then go down to Passcode, enable it and set your own options.

Once you’re done, go to your phone in the left pane, “Configuration Profiles” tab, and click install next your profile. It’ll pop up on your phone and you can install it!

Simple and secure way to lock down your iPhone a little more.

Hey, iHave an iPad Syncing Question! Do the iPad and iPhone Play Nice?

As we wait patiently with baited breath (and wallets burning) for the iPad (insert joke here) to grace the world with its presence I was asked this question:

Hey, I have an iPhone that I play games on. If I get an iPad in addition to the iPhone, what happens to my game data? Does it stay in sync?

Interesting question. How will Apple handle the iPad? Will it be a companion to the iPhone and share data or will it be a standalone device? Surely Apple had to consider such a scenario. Hmmmm. Will iTunes sync data? MobileMe? Or SOL?
