Batman and Chewbacca Arrested in Hollywood

batman-busted.jpg

Out in Hollywood the unions got the best of Batman. Needing to use a portable toilet that was rented by local union workers who were picketing, an argument ensued where Batman proceeded to take off his cape and assume a battle stance teasing the union workers.

Then Chewbacca came along to assist Batman on the epic struggle against the picketers. Long story short LAPD arrived on the scene and arrested Batman.

I’m not making this stuff up, wonder if Commissioner Gordon can help in this situation?

Newer Creepier PS3 Ads

Apparently Sony has launched a new “This is Living” line of ads to replace their already creepy “Play B3yond” ads. Although the ads still puzzle me, I’m glad the baby is gone.

Electric One Person Car: Phallically Saving The World One Vehicle at a Time

curious-one-person-electric-car.jpg

The Electric One Person Car (Don’t you love when the naming guys fall asleep at the wheel?) is $25,000 car designed to have zero emissions to help save the environment and designed to zip around town at 60mph (30 miles per six hour charge)

Besides coming with endless ridicule the car also comes with a radio, and CD player. No word on if floor mats will be included :P

Is it me or does this car look like something Ace and Gary would drive around in?

Search with a tool, I mean search with Federline

search-with-federline.jpg

Search with Kevin only confirms that with a little ego, anyone can start a search engine to endorse themselves. I witnessed the spectacle as news of this new search engine spread across the net only to be poked and smirked at. Who in their right mind would trust in a search engine endorsed by Federline?

Invaded Iraq, and all we got was expensive gas

Espensive gas in exchange for war

I really should try and space these war related posts out, but this image was too difficult to ignore when it landed in the inbox. Thanks Chad for sending this gem in from Florida.

Spanning Sync officially released, users cry foul at pricing

For the record, I was a Spanning Sync user. For those unfamiliar with the application, Spanning Sync acts as a intermediary between Google Calendar and Apple’s iCal application. Update Google Calendar, and changes would be reflected in iCal. Update iCal, and changes would be reflected online with Google Calendar.

During the initial beta period, Spanning Sync was free. Now that that utility has gone Gold, developers have imposed a pricing schema which has previous users screaming foul.

The current pricing scheme is now setup as such:

  • 15-day trial period – Free
  • 1-yr subscription – $25
  • One-time purchase – $65

Now I must say, I’ve paid for OS X software, and I’ll be damned if I had to pay $25 per year, but $65 for an outright purchase for a little utility that sits in the menu bar silently keeping calendars synced is way too much. More thoughts from users can be found in the comments on the Spanning Sync blog.

No More Free Calls For You

Qwest and AT&T have had their fill of “free” calling service and are now blocking access to FreeConference.com who was providing free conference calls because of loopholes in Iowa laws. Obviously the success of the service invoked the ire of the big guys so the big guys blocked access.

Quest and AT&T argue that they can block access to certainnumbers if in their opinion, they are experiencing excessive billing, collection, fraud problems or other misuse of our network. Now they say its for the protection of the consumer from ’900′ number fraud. I say it is a big company realizing they have a flawed business model and punishing a small company because they operate better.

Happy Anniversary for the War in Iraq

Nothing more is needed in celebration of the War in Iraq:

This week, we celebrate the fourth anniversary of the war in Iraq. I still remember the start very well. Time for a calculation.

1. The newspaper today states one minute of war in Iraq costs US$380,000. A calculation made by Joseph Stiglitz, a US Nobelprize winning economist. That is almost double the cost of the war in Vietnam.

2. According to WFP, the UN’s food aid organisation, it costs US$0.19 to feed a child for a day. Nineteen cents. 20,000 children die of hunger every day. The time it took you to read this post, already 15 died.

3. Taking those two figures together, one minute of war in Iraq would feed 2,000,000 children for a day. One day of war in Iraq would feed 20,000,000 children for a year.

Thanks to The Road to the Horizon for breaking down the amount of time and money spent in Iraq into more tangible examples.

What did you buy on eBay?

A ridiculous, yet semi-amusing [to think that someone would actually put something like this together] video about making purchases on eBay. Oh the gems you can find on YouTube these days.
