Snippet: Hack Your MySpace Friend Count

If you are a MySpace user that is running a custom CSS (theme) for the design of your page, you to much with your friend count.

All you need to do is add the following code to your CSS:

redbtext:after { content: "00"; }

What that will do is add a “00″ to the text that shows up after your friend count. So instead of stalker Tom being your only friend you will now have 100 friends

But the hack is not restricted to numbers. You can add text too, just add the following code to your CSS:

redbtext:after { content: " meaningless "; }

and then your friend count will read:

[Your Username] has a meaningless friend.

Mmmmmmmmm, Soapy!

soap.jpg

We want to congratulate Ben, of Mobile17 fame, on the launch of Whitesoap. For those who don’t know Whitesoap is capitalizing on the ‘social’ nature of the web. Whitesoap scours the web for news stories just waiting to be discovered (Average Joes can suggest stories, with no account!), then a team of moderators (which I’m sure Derek and I will be kicked off of) selects stories from that vast queue to feature on the front page.

Think of it as a moderated Digg. Best of luck on the new venture.

Snippet: Find out who gave away your Gmail address

logo1.gif There’s a very simple and cool trick in Gmail to find out if any websites gave your email address away. In this example your Gmail addy is flowergirl1172@gmail.com (I have no idea why I chose that).

When filling in a registration form www.whateversite.com enter your email address as flowergirl1172+whateversite@gmail.com. When Gmail sees a “+” in an email address, it uses all the characters to the left of the plus sign to know who to send it to. In this example it would still send it to flowergirl1172@gmail.com.

The additional bonus is that when you search flowergirl1172+whateversite@gmail.com in Gmail, you will see all emails that were sent to that address. Then simply click on the ‘details’ link to see who sent you message.

Sweet!

Fancy Being a Gucci Model?

gucci.jpg

Avoid the hustle and bustle of modeling agencies and get your face in a high class ad with only 15mins of Photoshop. That’s what this guy did. He conned one of Switzerland’s biggest printing companies into printing a 2 page spread of himself, semi-naked next to a Gucci perfume bottle, in a Sunday newspaper. The company then sent the $50,000 bill to Gucci.

Anyone interested in attempting anything similar can find the logo here and the perfume bottle here. Please, just make sure that you guys are at most semi-naked.

(Wait, is it just me, or is that guy posing next to perfume bottle pour femme?

“The Evolution of Man and Woman”

humor-044.gif

Here’s an unbiased ( :P ) view of the evolution of the sexes in gif format, wonder what sex animated it?

I’m a sucker for good old animated gifs. If you have any other good ones, link them in the comments.
