Tune in Tonight at 11:59 For a Special Feature

We have a really exciting exclusive review tonight of an Application that has been long anticipated and has peaked the interest of many on the web.

Check back at 11:59 PM EST for the late breaker!

In this months Popular Science, so you better buy it! Thanks for the picture Emory.

Also, to those who sent in an application to the call for writers, I’m back from my mini vacation and will get to reading them as well as get back to the good ol’ posting habits.

We’re Hiring: Calling all good writers

2007 has been a crazy year for the UNEASYteam, we have experienced continual growth and responsibilities in both the website and in our personal lives. With more time being consumed outside of UNEASYland we have less time to find good quality articles. With that being said Derek and I agreed we need another full time blogger.

What we are looking for:

  • Someone with their finger on the techno beat
  • The ability to generate at least four original “how to” articles a month that explore any technology area of your choosing
  • The ability to post at least three to four stories a day generated from the days news
  • A good (and twisted) sense of humor
  • The ability to use a spellchecker
  • A flexible schedule

This is a PAID position (Granted we don’t have a kings ransom at our disposal, but we will try to pay competitively) if you are seriously interested please email author@uneasysilence.com with some writing samples and any questions. Since I am traveling I will be delayed in my responses, but rest assured they are being received.

UPDATE: I didn’t properly provision the AUTHOR email account before, so if you sent something before 4PM EST PLEASE resend it.

Taxi Time

img_0598.jpg

Hey, if you are in the five boroughs of New York (and even Nassau) keep your eyes on the lookout, we are on the move! UNEASYsilence is on a small brigade of Taxi Tops (Like to see other blogs do that!). Forgettaboutit!

Hows that for breaking the silence? If you have a cab sighting, drop it in the comments :)

Misc UNEASY stuff

UES Rip?

We interrupting normal posting to bring you this short message of some housekeeping / misc items:

  • Logo RIP?: After three years we are looking to clean up the logo a bit (more on that later today) to give us a modern look (The “beta” logo has actually been in place for the last three days now). But that logo is NOT necessarily final, matter of fact I open up the logo design to ANY uneasy reader. If you have any design skills and want to change the logo of the site drop us an email
  • Go Speed Racer: We recently upgraded to SSL and found that it had some real nasty side effects on the site, mainly hurting the commenting system. So it had to go! With much help from Mosso (basically undoing all the hacked up miserable coding I did), the site is back to its full potential. So all the technical goofs in the last week and a half are all my fault (Who knew that 127.0.0.1 caused a loopback :P)
  • You Got The Beat: The Beat comment page has quickly become almost the most popular page on UNEASYsilence. We are glad you liked it as much as we do
  • More means MORE: It took a long time for Derek and I to figure out how to get the “MORE” button to do what we want, but now when you click more – you actually get what you expect

This was just to tidy up a few changes over the last few days, and we have two other really exciting tidbits that we’ll divulge later today.

Wii have a winner!

We have our two winners for the Wii Contest.

We have emailed Johnny P and Geoffrey to claim their prize.

Don’t be upset that you misses out on winning, on FRIDAY we will run yet another AWESOME UNEASYcontest.

Reminder: Wii Contest

This is a reminder that the Wii contest closes today at Midnight EST. If you haven’t entered, you my do so at this link.

Winners will be announced on Wednesday morning!

Changes at macTV and continuation of the Keynote series

mactvlogo.jpg

When UNEASYsilence acquired macTV is was originally designed to be an archive of all its legacy content and not to be a living website. Much to the prior owners instance, the result was a site that would only feature new content, and be produced daily. Now that macTV is fully controlled by UNEASYsilence, maintaining a daily schedule is impossible (as the track record shows).

So, we had to come up with a plan not only to bring good quality content but also release on a workable and reliable schedule. I think we have come up with one.

From now on, New episodes will go live on Mondays, starting TODAY – keeping with the Mac Mondays theme. Each week we will bring new original content as well as the legacy media of the old macTV. In our spare time, we will streamline down the website, that will serve only as a viewer of current content.

That being said, if you haven’t subscribed already we are running a “Macworld Keynote Series” that is rebroadcasting old Stevenotes of yesteryear. Relive the launch of The Apple Macintosh, Original iBook, G4 Cube, and most recently OS X.

We hope to keep the keynote series running, as well as bring you the latest cool Mac videos.

UNEASYgiveaway: Win not one but TWO Wii’s!

FOR THE LATEST INFORMATION PLEASE SUBSCRIBE TO OUR FEED HERE

wiiiiiii.jpg

These Wii’s (Which include Wii sports) have been secretly locked in the UNEASYvault for some time now, just waiting to be given away and welcomed into a warm loving home. Why not make that home YOURS!

If you want to win one of the TWO Wii’s there are TWO things you need to do:

  • Bookmark this site on Del.icio.us by clicking on that link. (You will need a Del.icio.us account, which you can get easily for here)
  • Leave a comment on this site that you did bookmark the site through Del.icio.us

Winners will be selected by random from a bookmarker in the Del.icious list (If you just leave a comment on this site you will not be entered). Since the selection is completely random, your chances don’t decrease by telling a friend, so spread the word. Also, since the Wii is region locked this contest is for people with a shipping address in the US. UNEASYsilence will pay all UPS shipping charges of the unit.

Good Luck – More contests to come. This contest closes in one week at 1PM EST on February 20th, 2007.

UPDATE: Since Canada is in the same region coding as the US, Canadian residents also can apply!
