We Are Thankful

In the US we are celebrating Thanksgiving. All origins of the holiday aside it is a day for everyone to think what they are thankful for.

Professionally, I would like to thank all the readers of UNEASYsilence.com. When this blog was created it was designed to be a place for people to come together and share ideas – and it has accomplished that goal on so many levels. I never wanted this site to be a revenue generator just a great place for odd news and technical tidbits. With our readers we were able to achieve that, and without you I would simply be another server on the internet. I am thankful for all the online friends I have corresponded with, I value your input, suggestions and candor.

Personally I would like to thank all our authors both of past and present. With huge thanks to Derek who is responsible for how the site looks today. For two years he hardly ever missed a day of posting, was always filled with great tips and a wonderful person.

Again, I am thankful that thousands of people welcome me into the lives daily to spend a little time reading what I have to say. It is very humbling.

We will resume a weekend posting schedule tomorrow.

Needed: CSS Guru

If you are a ninja with designing a CSS page I desperately need your help. Unfortunately your humble host is stuck in the “Web 1.0″ days (Tables anyone?) and need to actually design something quasi modern that iFrames can’t fix. I have a Photoshop mock up of the single page template design I need converted in to beautiful shiny CSS code that should really not be an hard job for someone who really knows their stuff.

If you can be of ANY help, please drop me a line at tips@uneasysilence.com.

It seems the search might be over! Thank you to all the people who wrote in, I love how involved our readership is and it humbles me.

Spotted: The UNEASYbuses

A hat tip to our eagle eyed reader John who emailed us street photos of the UNEASYbuses that are roaming around the streets of NYC. Job well done! If you live in NYC and spot the bus (We have 10) take a photo of it and email it to us at tips@uneasysilence.com – who knows what you would get back!

Hey New Yorkers, Stay On The Lookout

If you live in NYC (or fly into/from JFK or LGA airport) keep your eyes pealed. UNEASYsilence is on the move. If you know what I’m talking about, drop a comment.

Happy Labor Day

To all our US readers we wish you a happy Labor Day, we will be on a reduced posting schedule today and will resume normal posting on Tuesday.

On The Track to 10,000

zz222ff808.jpg

As it stands now we have posted 9,162 stories in 28 categories (You should check out a random post). We have six full time authors (more or less with a little prodding:P) and average about nine or ten posts a day. When do you think we will reach 10,000 posts? What time? What Author?

A correct guess might land some good fortune ;)

Drop a comment below to enter your guess.

West Coast Bound

Hey Pacific Coasters, more specific San Francisco UNEASYreaders, I’m heading your way! There are a few companies I need to visit and stories to cover. While I am on the other coast I was wondering if anyone would be up for an impromptu meet up?

If you are interested in meeting Mr. Uneasy and grabbing a few drinks drop us an email at Tips@UNEASYsilence.com.

Also, What is better? Weekends or Weekdays after 5PM? I’m thinking of maybe this Saturday but open to suggestions.

UNEASYname change?

I’ve been toying with the idea of changing the sites name for almost a year now. When UNEASYsilence launched it was designed as a personal blog of thoughts that I had, things I saw in my life and my love for all things technology. It was never intended to be a site that was updated daily – never mind 10 times a day with multiple authors scattered across the world. As the years passed and millions of visitors enjoyed our content its clear that there is no silence here.

I love the UNEASYbrand and I am not planning on abandoning it, but I think UNEASYsilence is ready to move to the next level.

The new name I am toying with is UNEASYtech (Don’t worry, I already registered the name). I feel the potential new name is a natural evolution of the brand with a better emphasis on what we do best. Of course there is UNEASYstuff (Again, registered) but that has some *other* connotations to it.

I value the input from our readership greatly and though the decision is ultimately mine I want to know what you think. This change will not be an overnight thing and will probably take a month or two for me to finally make up my mind. In the meantime fill up the comments with your thoughts (We know you have plenty) or drop me an email. -Dan

What You Missed Over The Weekend

Here is what you missed over the weekend:

And don’t forget about “The Pixel Project,” a cheap way to get yourself noticed.

Intermittent Availability

zz5025af65.png

Sorry for the intermittent availability today, as noted on Mosso’s support page there was a massive meltdown on the PHP cluster I’m hosted on.

I personally apologize for the outages but I’m working with the owners of Mosso to make provisions that this WILL NOT happen again, which I will detail when we reach an agreement. It is a great embarrassment when a website of our size has any connectivity issues, and again, we are making provisions that this will not happen again.
