UNEASYsilence visits London

unionjack.jpg

God Bless the Queen, UNEASYsilence is on road in England. And when I say UNEASYsilece, I mean Dan (Sorry Derek, a HUGE field trip is in your future too). I’ve packed up my laptop (WHY must you guys have SUCH HUGE plugs?), getting a GSM cellphone (UGH – Longtime readers know my position on this) and hopped over the pond to the United Kingdom.

As I get a grasp on the language ( :P ), and understand that pounds are more then just weight, I am planning a few special stories for the site. Well, that is when I adjust to the time difference. I’ll try to keep to my regular posting schedule, but you can always expect great content from Derek, Chad and Chris.

If you have something to suggest I should do or see, drop us a line or leave a comment.

While you were out

Chris, Derek, and I got a posting bug, here is what you missed over this holiday weekend.

Burp

Seems as if there is a little burp in the comment table. We are working on a fix.

UPDATE: Fixed!

New ‘Gadgets’ Category

As of today, a new category will feature machines, contraptions and devices promising to make our lives easier, cooler or funnier. Appropriately called ‘Gadgets’, in this category we’ll analyse if these goals are reached and whether they deserve a second look. It will also feature upcoming information on future releases, infrequent nostalgic look backs, reviews, and other news which is hitting the blogging community on the subject.

You can filter the UES news to view Gadget related articles, or other categories, by clicking on the appropriate title on the left hand side of the page.

Enjoy!

Stalk your MySpace heart throb

In an attempt to keep tabs – ergh stalk – your favorite MySpace user, SingleStat.us aims at providing a means in which registered users will receive notification whenever the “relationship status” on a profile changes.

Want to know when that cute friend of yours breaks up with her boyfriend? Check out David Weekly’s SingleStat.us, a service that let’s you type in anyone’s Myspace profile and be notified by email if their relationship status changes. It costs $3.95 to sign up for unlimited notifications, and they’ll waive the fee it you mention singlestat.us on your Myspace profile. #

Could MySpace get any more “stalker”? Keeping tabs on when a profiles status concerning “relationships” changes?! If a user was interested in that type of information to begin with, wouldn’t it be safe to assume they’re already refreshing a profile page 100 times per hour?

Feeling UNEASY? Join the Rank and File

UPDATE: Wow, I must admit we were blow away by the responses. The position(s) have been filled. However if you have a burning desire to write for uneasy, please send us an email anyway. The more the merrier, right?

We asked before, and we are serious. Derek and I are looking for a third UNEASYwriter. Frankly, we have typed our fingers to the bones, and killed three laptops (seriously) to bring you this site daily. So, fresh ideas and contributors are welcome. The qualifications join us are quite simple:

You have to be able to write complete sentences, and as you know correct spelling is not always necessary. (Now seriously, a room full of monkeys with typewriters can do that, and we know you are above that.)

All you need to do submit a link or two a day with a very short write-up, you read the site so you know what we are about. Simply that is all you need to join the rank and file of the quickest growing topical website on the internet.

*tap tap tap* – You, yes you! This is your chance to get your links, ideas, tutorials, and random crap seen by tens of thousands of unique people a day, and build up your online reputation. Although this is not a paying position, Derek can testify that the job has its perks. Don’t think you have what it takes? Try us. Just drop an e-mail.

Fidgeting with the widget, the UNEASYwidget

Burning desire to have UNEASYsilence invade all aspects of your life?

widget-smaller.jpg

Lets see, we can be in your email inbox, RSS feed reader. Next up, MIND CONTROL!!!! (Ok, well not mind control, but we are going to be beta testing a few cool things in the next few weeks – thanks to all who signed up so far)

Over our two years of operation our REALLY AWESOME readers (UNEASY’s, Silencers – what do we call ourselves?) have created little widgets for our site. We have one for Konfabulator, even Opera. But Apple setup such HUGE hurtles for a Dashboard widget. Not any longer. Since the advent of Dashcode, we sat down and designed an OFFICIAL OSX widget.

Since we are always expanding, and changing this widget is sporting our latest look, but is still considered a beta product. Granted, it is more of a Google beta, then a Microsoft beta which would toast your machine from the inside out.

None the less, it is very stable, and we hope it will bring you another way to access our site.

Enjoy the download! DOWNLOAD NOW” (The background is also available if you want to port it over to Konfab or any other widget program)

UNEASY beta testers

Experiment23 (UNEASYsilence’s big daddy) is in the process of rolling out a few new little features to enhance UNEASYsilence, and we are looking for a few beta testers.

If you are interested, drop us an email at tips@uneasysilence.com with the subject UNEASYbeta1, and we’ll contact you back with more details.

Break the silence

Do you have a question you want answered? Want us to show you something? Have something to say?

Well, join us for our first call in show! UNEASYsilence wants to do a monthly call in show to cover anything you, the reader, wants to know. Nothing is too simple or complicated.

So on OUR dime, call us toll free, 888.9UNEASY (888.986.3279) and let yourself be heard. (If you are an international reader, use Skype to call us – It’s totally free). A touch shy? Drop us an email at tips@uneasysilence.com. We ask that all calls/emails be submitted on or before May 31st.

UNEASYsilence turned TWO today

As another year passes, we would like to thank you for your loyal readership and insightful comments. This website was created for YOU, the reader, as a place to find often burried stories, ignored facts, or minority opinions. In our third year of operation we hope to continue seeing our rapidly growing pace, and expanded coverage of all things web.

As always, please tell a friend and submit our links. Without you, we would simply be a lonely IP address.

Cheers and Happy Birthday UNEASYsilence!
