First of all, I must say it has been a FANTASTIC and HUGE first two months. Within out VERY short time online we have managed to sign up thousands of users for this invaluable RSS to SMS notification tool.

We never expected so many users so fast, so we had a few issues with the speed of notifications as well as content duplication. We have been working very hard to solve that and rolled out a service pack to Pingie that not only makes it MUCH faster it added a few features.

Pingie now supports more feeds, “Feed Identifiers”, and “Ping More”. These three features are not yet public and UNEASYsilence readers are getting a first look.

With our new enhancements, when you get a ping from Pingie the message you receive will have the first three letters of the subscribed website name.

For example UNEASYsilence would be: UNE: Sneak Preview: New Pingie Enhancements – w5983

This makes it far easier to tell what websites are updating. Especially since now you can have FIVE sites you can monitor free of charge.

Secondly is the secret one letter and number code that is added to the messages. This feature is called Ping More. This code allows you to reply back to Pingie to have the content of the article delivered in a WAP friendly way to your phone.

For example if the message you got was:
UNE: Sneak Preview: New Pingie Enhancements – w5983

All you do is reply back to that message with ping w5983 , where w5983 would be the code in your individual text message. Our custom SMS gateway will then decode that and deliver a URL to a WAP friendly web page.

These features are again all beta, as is Pingie, so expect a hick up or two but we think that you will really enjoy these new features – more even exciting features are on the way.

If you aren’t a Pingie subscriber – try it with your favorite site today its completely free to use. Also, if you are a publisher wanting to integrate Pingie into your website for free you can use our publisher tool or Feedburner FeedFlare.

This is the most anticipated and most dreaded time of the year at UNEASYcentral. This is the time of year we analyze feedback both positive and negative as well as usage trends to design a more perfect site.

And what you see before you fits most of the objectives we set out to solve. With this new design navigation is much easier, layout is much cleaner, and we have a more professional feel.

With this change we also considered users rights. We have phased out Google Analytics using own own in house analytics engine and are carefully evaluating new ad providers that better conform with our privacy practices. Also with this new design we look to phase out our twelve month design cycle and have this design evolve to serve us for years to come.

This design change continues to really emphasize the year of changes over at Experiment23 Inc, UNEASYsilence’s parent company. We are looking forward to the many new products that will continue to be rolled out over 2008 joining the family of Pingie and Clipalizer. We also look to bring you even more interesting original content you will never find on any other blog.

I must also extend my deepest heartfelt thanks to Derek who has been the leading force and design god for UNEASYsilence since the moment he joined our humble community.

Lastly, I spent the last two days sifting through comments and emails from prior design changes. If you have something to say about the design make it constructive, instead of “it sucks.” A comment like that accomplishes nothing but aggravation.

Cheers to our ever expanding readership and I look forward to continuing to being your quality content for years to come.

I would like to thank everyone who has signed up so far, I am simply BLOWN AWAY by the sheer number of subscribers we have received in our first ten days of operation. The rate of daily signups is outstanding and unrelenting.

Again, thank you again for making Pingie such a huge success, even though it is just in beta. Keep your eyes pealed on the Pingie blog for more feature announcements. We aim to make all phones smart phones – with just SMS.

This is going to be the last Pingie related post on UNEASYsilence for a few days, don’t worry.

If you are a FeedBurner publisher (and why shouldn’t you be) you can easily add a Pingie FeedFlare to your feed. This will let you automagically create custom signup forms for your site on Pingie – so your readership can easily get free SMS alerts when you update your blog.

All you have to do is log into FeedBurner and choose the “Optimize” tab, select the “FeedFlare” option, and paste:

http://pingie.experiment23.com/flare.xml

Into the “Personal Feed Flare” URL box and thats it. You will have a specialized automagic Pingie signup URL in your feeds.

For more Pingie news check out the Pingie blog at http://uneasy.me/iEH.

Stuck in a cube all day with restricted internet? Pingie can help bring your favorite site updates directly yo your mobile phone. Addicted to Woot? Want the latest developments from CES or Macworld? You can get those too! The possibilities are endless! All you need is a mobile phone and an RSS feed of the website you want alerts for.

Pingie is absolutely free for you to subscribe to and to use, however your cellular carrier may charge you fees to receive text messages.

In the US we are celebrating Thanksgiving. All origins of the holiday aside it is a day for everyone to think what they are thankful for.

Professionally, I would like to thank all the readers of UNEASYsilence.com. When this blog was created it was designed to be a place for people to come together and share ideas – and it has accomplished that goal on so many levels. I never wanted this site to be a revenue generator just a great place for odd news and technical tidbits. With our readers we were able to achieve that, and without you I would simply be another server on the internet. I am thankful for all the online friends I have corresponded with, I value your input, suggestions and candor.

Personally I would like to thank all our authors both of past and present. With huge thanks to Derek who is responsible for how the site looks today. For two years he hardly ever missed a day of posting, was always filled with great tips and a wonderful person.

Again, I am thankful that thousands of people welcome me into the lives daily to spend a little time reading what I have to say. It is very humbling.

We will resume a weekend posting schedule tomorrow.
