Just because Dan’s away doesn’t mean the Apple news stops! Oh no, my friends. Apple updated their notebooks today, here are the details.

General

All Macs Ship with Leopard OS, iLife ‘08

Macbooks/Macbook Pros ship with built in iSight camera, MagSafe Power adapter, 802.11N, Bluetooth, USB 2.0, FireWire and built-in SuperDrive

Macbook Pros

Macbook Pros now come with multi-touch gesture support, allowing you to pinch, rotate, swipe and interact differently with photos in iPhoto or Aperture, as well as browsing pages in Safari.

Illuminated Keyboard with ambient light sensor that auto-adjusts brightness

New Macbook Pro has the latest Intel Core 2 Duo technology going up to a 2.6GHz processor, 6MB of shared L2 cache.

Up to 4GB of 667MHz DDR2 SDRAM

Up to 300GB HD

NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT graphics with up to 512MB video memory

Macbooks

Faster Processors available – 2.1GHz and 2.4GHz

120GB or 160GB 5400rpm HDs

Black 2.4GHz model ships with 250GB 5400 rpm HD – this was previously available as an option.

Black Macbook ships with 2GB standard.

Up to 4GB memory on all Macbooks

So, just updates under the hood, no new laptops – but did we really expect anything right after the Macbook Air

Your PC loaded with viruses and too afraid to plug it into a network to try to disinfect it? Vaccine Flash Drive from (believe it or not) LG holds between 512MB and 8GB of data and is fortified with antivirus software. To add icing to the cake the drive comes with 2 years of complementary updates. No word yet on pricing or availability, but knowing LG it should be very within reach.

Think the 113 button Optimus Maximus is overpriced but want the highly adaptable keyboard on your desk you may want to buy a button reduced model. Starting February 20th, 2008, Optimus will opper a 1, 10, and 47 programmable OLED key configurations for $462, $599, $999, respectively.

Why you would want a one button Optimus is beyond me, but its $462.

Zune More Popular then iPod on Amazon?

Seems like the Zune isn’t a laughing matter anymore – It’s outselling the iPod on Amazon.

A Zune media player is the top-selling digital musical device on Amazon.com, outselling Apple. Inc.’s iPod for the No. 1 ranking.

On Monday morning, Microsoft Corp.’s heavily discounted, 30-gigabyte, $134 Zune digital media player was ranked the No. 1 bestseller in the Seattle online retailer’s list of top-selling MP3 players in the “Electronics” category.

Apple’s four-gigabyte iPod nano was No. 2, followed by Apple’s 80-gigabyte iPod “classic” at No. 3.

Hmmmm, with the new OS the Zune might have enough punch to give the traditional iPod a run for its money.

There is a dream when one day that all our gadgets will become 100% recyclable and that green hardware will one day put an end to the the dumping of old iPods in 3rd world countries.

Enter the Alienware AlienExchange program. You can trade in anything from cameras to games consoles, from Macs to mobile phones of various brands. While it’s a far cry from the ideal of a green gadget, it certainly is a huge step forward. They will even give you a $200 for old Alienware stuff.

Hmm… if I had a bit of free time I could go on eBay, buy some old hardware and trade it in for a profit… hint hint.

But before you go unboxing your old gadget archive, like all other things this appears to be US only. And what do you mean my 1st Gen iPod only gets $32? It’s vintage.
