I can’t even begin to describe how annoying those stupid Windows pop up tool tips are.

Time for them to go away! To disable balloon tips in the notification area, follow these steps:

  • Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then press ENTER.
  • Locate the following subkey:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced
  • Right-click the right side pane, create a new DWORD value, and then name it EnableBalloonTips.
  • Double-click EnableBalloonTips, and then give it a value of 0.
  • Close Registry Editor.
  • Log off Windows, and then log back on.

Goodbye and good riddance!

Am I really the only one in the world that was pissed against the makers of my computer (SONY) for force-disabling these popups?

Every time I contacted them to ask how I can re-enable them (they work if their services are stopped, but the services are crucial for some drivers to work correctly) they told me how to disable them, I had a hard time making them understand that they were useful to me.
