So Yea, Zicam… Actually Not So Good For You
Seems like my favorite cold remedy will actually hurt you more then help you.

Consumers should stop using Zicam Cold Remedy nasal gel and related products because they can permanently damage the sense of smell, federal health regulators said Tuesday.
The over-the-counter products contain zinc, an ingredient scientists say may damage nerves in the nose needed for smell. [...] “Loss of the sense of smell is potentially life threatening and may be permanent,” said Dr. Charles Lee. “People without the sense of smell may not be able to detect life dangerous situations, such as gas leaks or something burning in the house.”
Let’s see here… The cure for the common cold is the loss of your sense of smell.

Hasn’t this happened to most (if not all) of these cold-stopping spray-things?
Lol @ this… You would have to be out of your mind to snort stuff like this. There is NO cure for the common cold, only chemicals that can take away symptoms. There is not one drug the pharmaceutical industry produces that doesn’t have a long list of side-effects or worse.
You sit out a common cold, and the only thing you can do to make it go away quicker is to live healthy, and get your daily dose of nutrients and vitamins.
That’s why I switched to the dissolving tablets when they came out. The swabs were kinda gross. But this stuff works, I keep a bottle around every winter.

This is not new information, this warning has always been on the box and on the pamphlet that is inside the box. The first time I decided to take a chance on the stuff I read the entire box and the pamphlet inside. I knew before trying it that it may cause a loss of smell and/or nose bleeds. I did use it a few times but stopped not because I started experiencing any symptoms but because I didn’t find it appealing to stuff goo up my nose.
If only people would actually read about the over the counter medication they are buying and not wait for a news report to spoon feed them the information I think a lot more OTC meds would be off the shelves because people would speak with their wallet and not buy them.
