I prefer Mac OS for personal use, but I use Windows for my business cause Microsoft offers good services for small business.

  2. Jerry says:

Choice? I’ve only used Windows from 3.1 to now, and DOS.
But I’d try anything once, given a chance.

Win XP Pro x64, and Mythdora. Old PC + Linux + MythTV + $20 (for a year of tv guide data) = Cheap DVR. Oh, you aso need a tuner card.

  4. Andrew says:

I mainly use windows products, but have used mac and linux a bit. Each is different in its own way.

I am currently using Vista 64 bit, but I do prefer Kubuntu… I’d try out Macintosh OSes, but I don’t know how they perform in the playing games department. I’ve used a Mac once and it wasn’t a bad experience, but it was on a friends laptop. Okay I lied, I have used an old Apple II in physics class in high school to play the game of life and a couple other apps my teacher didn’t feel like looking for new versions of.

Mac OS 10.5. Have used Apple since first IIe by choice. Have had to use Windows at various times because of work requirements. Have always found the Mac universe easier and more user friendly. Also, have never had to call tech support for my Mac.

    i prefer to use macs.

i get called a fanboy a lot. but im not, i built my 1st computer when i was about 10 years old that was in like 97? i used windows till 2003 when i got a powerbook and i never looked back. it was so much easier to fix anything that went wrong and because of the fact that OS X is (intended to be) only on macs it allowes them to be more secure so that is huge plus to me.. with this conficker thing going around made me really happy i use macs more then windows.

like a lot others i also have to use windows for work and such. and i HATE vista.. i love XP that is my number 2 after os x 10.5

    youtube restrictions suck……..

    macos + linux anyways

  9. Cory O'Brien says:

    OS X 10.5.6 for me.

  10. Peter Q says:

Of those two choices – MacOS hands down – but my real favourite – OpenVMS – Rock Solid, keeps on ticking, runs on multiple HW Types. Oh, and for real elegance in it’s day – TOPS-20.

i like windows for gamming / MacOS for the outher stuff / Linux for the free games and programes

  12. Launchpad says:

You ask a question like that on a Mac site….what do you think is going to be the answer.

Might as well go on Windows IT Pro forum and ask the same question. How many MAC users do you think you will get….

I’ve been a Mac OS user since 1985. I built my first PC 2 years ago and have been running the mac os on it ever since. Yea, its got Windows installed too, but that drive just sits and collects dust. I love Apple, but their hardware is now just a PC in a fancy case. I love my q6600 quad-core mac, it actually does more than a real mac. I can see why PC users like to build their computers, its fun and affordable. When do we get see the “I’m a Mac running on a PC” commercial?

      Nice work !!
I have actually been considering doing the exact same thing – building my own kick ass super PC but running the Mac OS (preferably X/10.5) and maybe a seperate HD for Windows just incase I need it (but most likely gather dust as you say!!)

Any pointers for me? Are there any hardware requirements to run the Mac OS smoothly? What program/s did you use to set it up? Or did you just load an OEM version of the Mac OS straight on & boot up? Do you run Boot camp or any other program like that?

Does anyone know what would happen if I pulled the HD out of my Macbook and just slipped it into a Toshiba Satellite? Would it run OS X?

Sorry for the million & one questions but I would love the feedback of another Mac user that has done what I’m dreaming fo doing.

      Cheers !!

I run xp, osx, puppy and Vista Inside VM on Ubuntu. Trying to switch to virtual box but have not got osx to work right on it. XP runs like a champ on virtual box. Would pick OSX over Win if I could only have one.
