“Go Green” With Your Mac’s Energy Saver Icon

So, you are jealous that the spiffy new NVidia powered Macs have special energy saver bulb icon? Here is how you can replace that incandescent light bulb icon with Apple’s new “greener” one.

First download the energy saver bulb icon here.

Then navigate to the root level of your hard drive System – Library – PreferencePanes

Right click on the EnergySaver.prefPane then select Show Package Contents.

In the package then select Contents then Resources. In there you will see a file called EnergySaver.icns. Drag the file you downloaded above to that folder and with your username and password authorize the item replacement.

Once that is done, close all open windows and navigate to your user folder, then open Library, then Caches. In that folder delete the file called com.apple.preferencepanes.cache.

When you open the System Preferences, you will have the new Energy Saver icon. Enjoy my Mac fanatics. If anybody conjures up a neat little AppleScript, please feel free to email it to me to post for everyone to use!
