I got this laptop from my mom, who got it from … probably questionable sources. My reason for this conclusion? For one, there is an indent of the top of the lid on my laptop where I’m sure a logo would have been. On the inside, there’s a generic label that simply states, “Notebook” and the components inside have made it so any hard drive I put into this laptop will get messed up within 3 months.
I bought a new harddrive for this computer about a year ago as well, and about 5 months after, my laptop decided it didn’t like XP so that’s why I’m on Ubuntu now.
I could *so* use a new computer right now.

That is my setup at home. The post-its are all my sister’s because we have to share it. I was really excited when I saw this post because I’ve been looking for a decent laptop for a while now for my internship/research class next semester, but this is way beyond what I could afford. I’m tired of sharing with my sister and my dad doesn’t like Linux much, so I’m stuck with Vista (which is only decent).

A step up from when I was running a website completely off of a work computer that I wasn’t supposed to be on with a jumpdrive.

I had it for 5 years and 4 months, and a week ago the screen broke (that’s why there is the external LCD). The mouse is external because the touchpad stopped working (together with the WiFi) 2 years ago. The power converter (under the external LCD) is a generic one because the original one (and the laptop) got soaked 4 years ago and even when dried it wouldn’t work. And to top it all, the optical drive doesn’t want to even recognise CDs any more. And the discoloration around the touchpad isn’t an photographic artefact – the color from the left touchpad button and the palm rest area got rubbed off. It lasted only for a year.
The image was shot in a physics lab (that’s why there’s a laser – it wasn’t on purpose, it was the only free space in the lab)(and yes, we have such antiquated equipement) with a friend’s phone (the glasses, headphones and mp3 player on the picture are his) so it’s blurry.
