Using a Mac Pro Could Give You Leukemia

Posted in Random by Dan at 5:11 pm

No, this is not a bogus headline… Using an older Mac Pro could drastically increase your chance for Leukemia.

[A French newspaper claims] that the tower’s smell is the cause and in fact, contains a few toxins, including benzene. Several forum users have noted the smell as well (anyone notice it?), and the French AppleCare acknowledged the smell issue claiming that it should only effect computers built before 2008. Apple themselves haven’t released any retort or recall as of yet

Now, imagine the Mac vs. PC ads for this!

i allways wondered about my powerbook g4.. now im even more curious..

i had the powerbook for 4 years, and before i went to sleep i would use it in bed it would sit on a pillow or against legs and mid stomach… after a while i started forming breathing problems that i didnt have before and i realized that they were increasing when using the mac in my bed…. i got a macbook a few months back and my my breathing is slowly going back to how it was.

    MAC: “Hey, I’m a Mac”
    PC: “And I’m a PC”
PC: “Hey Mac, I hear Mac Pros can give Leukaemia to users”
    MAC: “Yeah, sort of…”
    PC: “That’s too bad.”
MAC: “Did you know most of the Leukaemia research is done on Macs?”
PC: “That doesn’t really help your case, Mac.”

  6. The article to which you refer states: “Apple doesn’t want to confirm which Mac Pro have a problem because they know users could sue them for this reason.”

I find it almost impossible to believe that this is true –Apple would willingly continue to expose people to toxic emissions, because the company might be sued if they warned them?!?

    –Not the Apple I thought I knew…

I totally believe they would do this and keep dangerous product in the hands of clueless customers. Apple is a consumer electronics company now and not (just) a computer company. It’s all about profit and image. Product quality comes in a distant third if it finishes the race at all.

  8. Johno says:

Many apple products in the past have been recalled. if they knew something was wrong, they would recall it. apple is very good with their costumers. they’ve even gone green. so why would they expose toxic chemicals into the environment? maybe it’s just the fans sucking in crap inside your houses? everyone says the smell is different. i dunno, i just dont believe this at all.
