Major Data Outage for AT&T

This post was published 1 year 2 months 20 days ago and its content may not be valid anymore.Starting last night I received scattered reports that all of AT&T cellular data networks on the East Coast are not operational. This effects both EDGE and 3G data but calls are unaffected.
Following on the heals of T-Mobile botched tower upgrade yesterday a ton of cellular users have been left in the cold.
I have reached out to AT&T for comments but word from users is that AT&T has acknowledged the issue and has no ETA for a repair.
Wanted to second your report. I (in VA/DC) and my colleague in WV/MD are seeing the same thing. The Edge and 3G networks are completely not working. Hopefully AT&T will acknowledge the issue and release information about what’s going on, or at least when it will be fixed.
Yes, data on my Iphone has not been working since about 6:30am today in NY. Still out
I had my last email synch at 6:53am EDT this morning – in Rochester, NY.
Ditto here. No email or web browsing since about 3AM in the Boston area.
I called AT&T at 11:10 Eastern and I was told the outage was due to the hurricane. I asked which one and she said the one on the eastern side of the US. I said it is not even close to hitting the US yet and she just kept saying that was the problem and there was wide-spread outage due to the weather.
They probably unplugged all the equipment so it wont short out when the hurricane hits! :-)
My email started flowing again at noon EDT.
I’m in NC and I never really noticed any issues.
