Windows XP Gets To Live Another Day (Or Three to Be Exact)
Dell has given Windows XP pre-installations another three days to be free.
In a sign that proves just how much the general public dislikes Windows Vista, Dell has announced that they have postponed their kill date for Windows XP from today until June 26th. Interested consumers can still purchase an XP-laden Dell system until 7 AM Eastern time on the 26th, after which point Vista will be your only Microsoft OS option. The extension only applies to three versions of Dell’s Inspiron 530, as well as the XPS 630. If you’ve been thinking about a grabbing a Dell, and hate Windows Vista, we suggest you head on over to the company’s site quickly, as time is most certainly running out.
Microsoft, nothing like forcing a product down somebody’s throat to spur adoption.

Three days? This is ridiculous now. Either people need to leave XP behind, because in all honesty Vista is just as functional as XP, or Microsoft needs to realise that some people don’t want Vista. Either way this whole “end of XP life” shit is just stupid now.
It’s stupid because Microsoft is only _partially_ reacting to public pressure (of people not being able to do what they need or want to do with the latest version of Windows.)
@Matt: If it’s just as functional, why is it that enterprise businesses have NOT picked it up yet, Microsoft’s Windows division has posted a drop in this year’s sales (even though computer sales are up) and even the U.S. DOT has BANNED it from their networks? Just because it’s pretty, does not mean it’s _functional_. (I’ve seen pretty Yugos…)
