Windows XP Tip: Get Windows XP to Remember More Recent Items

Posted in Random by Dan at 11:01 am

In Windows XP the “Recent Documents” can actually be a useful menu item, but 15 items is simply not enough for some people’s workflow. There is a way to increase that number to anything you want.

What you do is click Start, Run, type gpedit.msc, and press Enter.

In the tree pane on the left, navigate to and select User Configuration\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Windows Explorer. Double-click Maximum number of recent documents in the right pane. Select Enabled, and then set the ‘Maximum number of recent documents’ to something higher than the default of 15.

Enjoy!
