I agree with you Dan...can't believe Steve is allowing it...I say this because this reflects badly on his company too. One of the major reasons he did not go with Verizon when the iPhone was pitched to them...he would not have much...if any say on the marketing / plan prices of the iPhone. Makes me wonder if he knows / knew about this...if yes...then Ralph wouldn't be the only person I would aim my anger at.

As Steve Jobs said in the Keynote "So if you're in Malta and you feel like buying an iPhone 3G, you'll find one there"... :D

My point is that with 70 countries officially joining the iPhone market, there's bound to be one place where one will be able to easily get his hands on a cheap iPhone with little ties.

Frankly, here in Malta the operators do not work in the same way your AT&T seems to do. It's all about prepaid accounts here so I can't see the iPhone being introduced any other way locally.

All mobile phone plans are rip-offs, when you consider that you are paying exhorbitant rates for a service they have already built. That's why their are so many mobile phone shops and adverts - all designed to fleece the customer.

Wow. That is 3 times the price that current iPhone users are currently paying isn't it?

Thanks for the heads up. That could very well be a deal breaker if anyone is thinking so switching to AT&T.

AND the 3G doesn't have the ability to switch the 3G feature on or off. It is on auto between 3G and wifi. So you are stuck with it.
