This rumor has been off and on for years and I continue to scratch my head on why a budget GSM provider would want to buy buy a really screwed up CDMA/WiMAX/iDen provider.

Deutsche Telekom might be interested in buying the Sprint Nextel network in the USA. Combining that with its own T-Mobile USA would make it the No:1 US network. [...]

Deutsche Telekom’s deliberations are at a preliminary stage and management may very well turn away, these people cautioned. If a bid is launched for Sprint Nextel, which has a stock-market capitalization of $22 billion and is the No. 3 player in the U.S. wireless market, it could still be weeks, or even months, away, they added.

I don’t know, but I think that Sprint being bought by T-Mobile will be the potential downfall of both companies. Agree?

    I don’t necessarily understand these situations but could this be a good or bad thing for a T-mobile customers?

    depends I suppose…. would be nice to be able to buy any type of phone ever made in the past 5-7 years and have it work on your network regardless of it’s “spectrum”.
