Hone Your Cubeecraft

Are you a fan of Origami but can’t for the life of you figure out how they do it? Why not start small, with Cubeecraft? The site is as straightforward as it gets: click on a character on the page which links to the printable template image, then cut and assemble. There’s no need for any sort of adhesive which is encouraging. New characters will be added each week. If anyone is trying this out, let us know what how it came out! (Pics or it never happened.)
I made the chicken and the weighted companion cube (the ones w/o arms looked like they would be the easiest) and though it didn’t come out perfect, it’s actually pretty easy to get a half-way decent papercraft model out of one of the Cubeecraft guides.
I made the stormtrooper. I’m a klutz with stuff like this and it took ages, but I can’t remember the last time I rumaged around for scissors and glue.
One of the best things you can do to ease the construction of a paper model is cut along where you are going to fold. Don’t cut through, but just score it so that when you fold it you don’t have to crease it, it just folds easier. I built a lot of paper models for some DnD stuff a while back and that was the number one tip. Also, use heavy cardstock for the best result.
I made the storm trooper last night and it turned out awesome :).
I made the Mr. Stay Puft one. It said no tape was required, but I kinda cheated. Those little tabs were pretty annoying so tape worked. Pretty cool little guy. Took about 2 hours.
