Microsoft Cutting Vista Prices
If you’ve been waiting on a price drop to get your hands on Vista, now is your chance, provided you want a higher-end version of Vista.
For those in the U.S., Microsoft is cutting prices only on the higher-end versions of Vista, and only for the upgrade version used to move from XP or another copy of Vista. The suggested price for Vista Ultimate drops to $219 from $299, while Home Premium falls to $129, from $159.
Other developed markets will also see price cuts, while in emerging markets, Microsoft is eliminating the distinction between full and upgrade versions of Home Basic and Home Premium as it attempts to convince more users there to use genuine software.
Vista is not the piece of crap people want to make it out to be, though I have to hand it to the Apple side of things with the “one size fits all” approach. I don’t see the need for different versions of an OS when we have enough problems with different versions of the software we run in operating systems, like the whole .docx thing with Office 2007. I actually find it hard to say I’m purchasing an OS when I’d rather get a new one with a new PC and not deal with any upgrade problems.

“Microsoft said the new prices will apply to the Home Premium and Ultimate versions of Vista, in both their full editions and the editions that upgrade an older or more basic operating system.”
Yahoo says both full and upgrades…
and I still won’t own a copy :D
Haha I still wouldn’t buy it either.
Our county is licensed for it, but all of the tech coordinators refuse to roll it out, myself included. We’re happy with XP, and will stick with it until something “better” comes along.
I will say after spending $900 to upgrade. Vista officially runs smooth as XP. :x
@Nick
video or it didn’t happen :D
The price change is good but oem/sys builder prices are better newegg 110$ (64 bit home premium). I’ve been a user since release works great for me (home premium, 2gigs ram, 1.6 core duo, x1400 ati, acer laptop) use- primarily school, autocad, and light gaming, Though if I build another system before june it will have 32bit xp pro and 64bit vista home and a cheap quad core.
I’m much too lazy for evidence. Can you have my word that I am telling the truth?
I love Vista.
It was so bad, it prompted me to buy my first Mac. OSX amazes me on a regular basis and I’m absolutely loving it. Feels like a luxury operating system.
Thank you Vista!
