Sure, you could learn Photoshop tutorials with a book, but some of the best things in life are free. Here’s a great tutorial on making photos with a sketch effect, making you that much cooler when you put new pictures on MSN, or Virb or whatever you crazy kids are into these days.
Paint.NET also has a “Pencil Sketch” filter (or named very similar). Works very much like the above concept, but it’s a single click instead of several commands.
Too bad Paint.NET is Windows only. Le sigh.
Facebook also has an application that will allow you to do a cheap version of this.
