Looks like the cat is out of the bag with Microsofts forthcoming “Windows 7.” Video has surfaces online of the look and feel of the new OS. If you ask me it looks a lot Windows Vista, revisited. Thoughts?

OK, so I understand this is supposed to be a sneaky leak of a new OS, or just a rebranded one, but seriously guys, LEARN HOW TO FOCUS!!!! I got a headache watching that just 1/3 of the way in!

  2. Ernie says:

This isn’t the UI for Windows 7, sure under the hood it could be Windows 7, but this is probably a pre-release, or a developer’s version. If I remember correctly even Leopard looked a lot like Tiger before its final release. Things will change.

  3. Evan Almighty says:

why did it say windows vista in windows media center. shouldn’t it have said windows 7 ultimate like the other about me screen.

  4. Matt says:

It’s not like Apple puts out a new UI for each build of OS X.

  5. Chris says:

I agree with Ernie. The UI isn’t the entire OS, and it’s still fairly early to be making definitive judgments. Then again, I don’t really know where you go with Aero..except back to the XP style or to something a bit more revolutionary.

  6. James says:

Ernie, and Matt. What does Apple have to do with this? It’s a post about Windows. I don’t see Apple mentioned anywhere in this post.

  7. Don Wilson says:

Absolutely nothing about this video makes me believe that it’s Windows 7.

  8. Nick says:

You should know that Windows XP was pretty nothing at all what it looks like today in it’s early days. As was the way with Vista.

  9. Mags says:

Im surprised it is that stable…..Vista pre-release builds were so buggy that they would crash constantly. (though, since it is most likely a re-build of vista, the drivers are probably in place)

  10. chad says:

meh…. who cares how it looks…. does it run like a drunk elephant in an elevator still?

  11. Dan says:

    Memory Lane…

  12. Eric says:

    Meh, I’ll stick to Kubuntu.

  13. Justine says:

    lol @chad

  14. Don Wilson says:

    Wow @ Video

  15. Matt says:

Chris, because UNEASYstaff is very much mac fanboys.

  16. Nigel says:

Fake video is fake. It doesnt take much to replace the Vista BMP image in the About dialog.

  17. Chris says:

    Sigh @ Video

Four years afterwards, we have only a crippled version of that vision of Longhorn. Though I wouldn’t be surprised if half those pretty enhancements (That sidebar actually looks pretty nice) were buggy and sup-par usability wise, basically none of them showed up in Vista in any recognizable form.

  18. Nick says:

I am amazing a company like Microsoft, can’t put together something like that in a period of 5 years. Apple get get something together with ease. You’d think just the shear size would make a difference alone!

  19. Eric says:

Please have some sense of quality control – it is obviously a fake and it has been discussed to death on numerous other Web sites for the past weeks

  20. Richard says:

It’s fake. Pretty easy to tell that. I know Vista was a failure for Microsoft but they have no choice to keep pushing it and fix things as fast as they can. If you clicked here because it said ‘Windows 7′, you might as well go back to Vista at this point because that’s what it is.

… or you could wait for Service Pack 3 for Windows XP.
