CompUSA…. Back From The Dead
The CompUSA name has been saved from permanent eradication from the planet earth by…. Tiger Direct.
TigerDirect, will assume CompUSA brand, website as well as other assets such as inventory and storefronts. The deal should close the fast part of 2008.
“We believe the value of the CompUSA brand remains very high. The company has a long legacy of value pricing, service and customer loyalty among consumers nationwide,” said Richard Leeds, Chief Executive Officer of Systemax. “We view this acquisition as a strong complementary business to our TigerDirect operation.”
This move may help remove some of the stigma with the TigerDirect brand and establish a strong retail presence.

Two of the worst names in computer retail joining forces. Yay.
@JERRY
the TigerDirect store down here in Florida is awesome!…. CompUSA has always sucked though… hopefully TigerDirect will revive the retail version of CompUSA to be more like the TigerDirect experience (which is nothing like best buy… don’t really hold your hand, they give you your hardware at good prices)
Selling Compaq computers.
Funny. Both companies are infamous for rebates and the horrid quality thereof.
I always preferred CompUSA to WorstBuy personally.
Personally, i believe that tigerdirect stores around my area would give the other big box retailers (BB, CC) some real competition. Not saying that Tiger Direct would move more items….but it would force the locals to come up with bigger promotions.
I’m an employee from CompUSA and I just learned that CompUSA is now a division of Systemax, which is the family that owns TigerDirect, along with several other companies. I, too, hope that they can take CompUSA in a new direction and bring more customers to TigerDirect…who I’ve always loved, along with newegg.com and Fry’s.
So long CompUSA! It’s been good working with you for the 15 months. :D
