Damn, with a little Echostar money these guys can go a long way. Just on the heals of CES Sing Media has announced a Sling Pro with native HD support and a Blackberry client.
As for the Slingbox Pro HD, it will stream up to 1080i content and 5.1 surround within the home to a computer (so much better then the old Slingboxes), it can also be used to stream high-def content to another high def TV using the yet unreleased SlingCatcher. Also the Slingbox PRO-HD will be able to sling HD content outside of your house if you have an ultra fast internet connection.
Now, this should have everybody drooling. Sing Media announced they have developed a Blackberry client for the Slingbox. Expect the same features you see in Sings Windows Mobile, Palm OS, and Symbian clients and for it to be released later this year for $29.99.
Not to be the downer of the group, but can you imagine streaming on EDGE? Yikes.
When will we see a Slingplayer for iPhone? That’s what I want.
You’re bringing me down! ;) Seriously, we only endorse 3G and WiFi connections for streaming. That’s the 8120 with WiFi pictured above. Having said that, if you’ll be at CES come find me for an EDGE (and WiFi) demo… you may be pleasantly surprised.

Can’t wait :)
Ian –
Seriously EDGE streaming isn’t that bad…. I tried it using the Palm client. Its actually good.
@Ian: apropos iPhone, I guess you are also waiting for the 3G version of the iPhone as well since that also ‘only’ does EDGE so far…
Used to stream over EDGE on my DASH all the time. It really was poor and the audio only come through good. OK for listening to games and such.
We want iPhone support!
@Mike: Ever hear of a little thing called Wifi?
Anyway, I wrote a response earlier but I guess it never actually posted. I suppose I was a little quick to jump the gun poo-poo’ing EDGE. Sure, it’s dogged slow, especially since I live in the sticks, but I guess anything’s better than nothing. If I had a BB with wifi, I’d be all over this. But seeing as I’m switching over to the iPhone, now my only question is when is that going to get released?
So Dave, how about it? I’ll bake you cookies if that will speed up the process.
