New Years Resolution: Open Your Mind

We all make New Years resolutions; some to loose weight, others to gain a little weight and many to organize their lives better. Every year I look forward and say ‘What can I learn this year that I didn’t even know about in the last?’

I discovered this website a long time ago that brings together some of the greatest minds of our time and posts online videos ~15 minute presentations that they give. The presentations range from molecular biology, to sustainable energy, comedy, violinists, sustainable energy, the future and past of mankind and yes- even impressionist dance.

“TED stands for Technology, Entertainment, Design. It started out (in 1984) as a conference bringing together people from those three worlds. Since then its scope has become ever broader.

The annual conference now brings together the world’s most fascinating thinkers and doers, who are challenged to give the talk of their lives (in 18 minutes).

This site makes the best talks and performances from TED available to the public, for free. Almost 150 talks from our archive are now available, with more added each week. These videos are released under a Creative Commons license, so they can be freely shared and reposted.

Our mission: Spreading ideas.”

Watching people at the forefront of their fields present their information in easy to understand and entertaining ways is surely a way to build some world knowledge this year.

    Check out Aubrey de Grey’s talk about aging and how he views it as a disease that we can possibly prevent.

    Really interesting and thought provoking stuff.

    @Jeff

    aging is essentially the build up of toxins in our bodies over years of use… ideally what she is saying is rather correct, gonna have to give this a look… sounds interesting
