Belkin belives that laptop security extends beyond simple passwords. They created a cool USB Laptop Security Alarm that gets strapped to a table or desk and the other end gets plugged into a USB port. If it Belkin dongle is unplugged is unplugged from the USB port without the key being inserted, a really loud alarm will sound. Available for $25.

    Now, wouldn’t I be able to plug in an earphone into that and mute it? You wouldn’t think there’s some sort of pass code information stored in that little keychain thingy since it looks like a regular mini plug?

    I’m guessing there’s a password, and I’m guessing the alarm is actually in the device.
