I’ve been looking for something to help me get better screenshots when I’m blogging and the program I was turned on to may be pretty handy to Windows users. Paint.NET is a step above paint but below Photoshop. At under 2 MB, it’s an impressive program that you can use if you have minor image editing to do. The program has useful tutorials on its forums and even has a plugin architecture. I’m may take up some of the tutorials to try making my screenshots better, but I am not sure if I should stick with Irfanview. Either way, if you’re like me and heard about Paint.NET before but never really took it on, consider this your push to try it out. You’ll need to be running Windows XP with the .net framework or Vista to use it.

I’ve been using Paint.NET for a while now, and deemed it worthy enough to be included in our standard district XP image. My students love the ability to easily transform their photos, and I’ve seen some pretty wicked background designs they’ve made. Above all, the pricing is perfect.
