Hitachi plans on releasing über drives in the near future, TiVo and Pornsters rejoice!

“… current drive heads can read media where the tracks are 70 nanometers apart. The CPP-GMR heads will be capable of reading media where the tracks are 50 nanometers apart or smaller. Fifty nanometer tracks hit in 2009, and 30 nanometer tracks are expected to hit in 2011.”

    screw a 1 terabyte notebook hard drive I want a 160 gigabyte notebook flash drive… that doesn’t cost thousands

    I would personally be really fucking scared to be carrying 1TB of data with me in the from of a HDD. One drop and lifetime of work could die a horrible death, assuming its a laptop. Now if these went into media devices…
