They claimed that the device gets smaller then the current Mini because Apple has 'moved the power supply out of the case'.

This might be a valid reason - save for the fact that the CURRENT Mac Mini already has an external power supply. You don't even need to open one to see it, either. The Mac Mini has a very large and conspicuous power brick.

This is most certainly a fake. I can't see Apple releasing something with nearly no differentiation from the AppleTV itself.

Apart from the fact that the unit is identical to the AppleTV prototypes, as one previous poster astutely mentioned. And how on earth would you reinstall the system with NO OPTICAL DRIVE?

I haven't seen a fake this lazy in a long while.

It has to be the original iTV prototype. With the power cable and ethernet in the same place, and cable to the left has to be the HDMI. Apple may be concocting a Mac nano, but that is not it in the picture.

if they do come out with a "mac nano", it will look like this...but with the slot...then the apple tv, imac, and mac mini/nano will all have a similar look...

I'm fuller featured PC with TV interface, moving mac mini and Apple TV into one product. It connects to the files and discs on your main mac. Because you have two of course.

So why could this not be a blurry picture of a current AppleTV. I do not have mine right in front of me, but it looks pretty much the same. I guess there is the black button/light? to the right of the white light, but otherwise looks identical to me.

i'm definitely calling it an appletv, apple's always been far to media-focused to eliminate the optical drive... especially with the next-gen dvd's on the horizon.

my bet is it's a AppleTV concept or something... besides a computer without an optical drive in this day and age seems a bit soon... shit, you can still find floppy drives on some desktops... and the CD and DVD are far from "dying off"
