This site is not responsible for any misunderstanding.Microsoft has officialized the feature set of the new Zune 2 with the added bonus of giving Zune 1 owners a free upgrade to the new Zune OS.
Some new features of the new Zune OS is:
- Wireless sync. Cut the cord to your PC. Refresh your Zune with new content anywhere you charge your device. Connect to your PC through your home wireless network by setting your Zune to automatically sync the latest podcasts, music and more.
- Updated Zune Marketplace. Over 3 million songs, albums, and DRM-free MP3s
- Recorded television content to go. The Zune software will now automatically import broadcast content recorded on Windows® Media Center
- Zune software will automatically import your existing music, pictures and videos, including music you have ripped into iTunes and Windows Media® Player, even transferring your existing playlists and song ratings in one easy step.
Looks like Zune certainly learned a lesson over the last painful year of sale. Hopefully Apple will get the clue and offer wireless syncing on the iPhone and iPod touch.
Bah, Wireless syncing can wait. I have my iTunes on a Airport Disk which I can connect through my Macbook Pro with extreme “g” wireless and it’s painfully slow. Not everyone has updated to wireless “N”. It will end up being a “Non-feature” until enough people have fast enough wireless.
Right now, it looks to me like MS gets it where Apple doesn’t.
Wait, DRM-free MP3’s??!!? On the Zune Marketplace, owned by Microsoft? Microsoft having DRM-free files!?!?! I CAN’T TAKE IT!
