XKCD Velociraptor Equation Solved

Likely the greatest single comic on the entirety of the interblag is the “Substitute” strip from XKCD. A paranoid substitute physics professor imposing complex life-and-death physics equations on unsuspecting students is something we can all identify with, and I think that’s part of what makes it so special. Well, that and the Velociraptors.

A team of geeks at the University of Minnesota got together, drank some coffee, and sat down to solve question 2 of Mr. Munroe’s quiz.

The solution page not only features a series of spiffy java animations they used to find the answer, but also the methodology behind their equations. [via]
