It may not be the mile-high club, but it’s hard to beat a high-altitude slumber party with underwear models for sheer awesomeness. Virgin America and Victoria’s Secret have partnered to make Virgin the official airline of the 2007 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. Unfortunately– but not unexpectedly– mere mortals such as us won’t be getting a seat to the glam event, but its a safe bet that there will be plenty of lucky photogeeks there to capture the inevitably hot action.

Its a pretty simple concept, but I’m still left wondering– what happens when one jumps on a bed in an airplane? [via]

Um, nothing? Don’t you know your physics? By traveling in a plane, you are traveling at the same speed at the plane at all times. Moving around just adds or subtracts to that momentum. By jumping on a bed you’ll be both moving 600mph in the direction of the plane, up from the force of the jump, and back down with the force of gravity. Doesn’t make it any less fun :)

  2. Hah! “Um, nothing” is _verbatim_ what I thought when I read it as well.

You’re right about it not being less fun, but it would be more fun if you were surrounded by super models. -)

If you are not on an enclosed vehicle does the same principle apply? Like if I am on a boat and I jump will I land in the same spot I jumped from if the boat is moving? I don’t think so…
