Funny Errors Are Like, Cool

One thing I love is when things get silly when you least expect it. I hate being serious and it’s great if programmers can feel the same way too. Do you think the intention of this Winamp error was to be funny to begin with? “This should never really happen.” could be taken as serious or not, at least some people god a chuckle off of this.

I wonder if it’s a good ui decision to ask the user for confirmation for an action that can render your playlist db useless…
Just like when gmail says “Grrr” when your popup blocker is on and it’s trying to generate one. I don’t remember the whole message. Also like iSquint (iPod movie converter) has little comments for each figure. You go into advanced settings and it says “So, you think you’re better than me, huh?”
Yeah, I’ve definitely had code released to production (or at least to a very large beta customer) which threw and logged an exception that said “this should never happen.”
