Dont use wubi it is still beta software. You will not get a good first impression of ubuntu. Anyway if you install ubuntu normally it is very easy to recover the partition back to your main partition.

It works great on my dell 4600. Though the only problem is the ubuntu is not compatible with my sound card. No problems with it other than that.

Be carefull of this one. I have been wanting to try to put Ubuntu on my laptop for some time now and thought this sounded like the chance. It loaded just fine and I was able to dual boot into Ubuntu. Then Ubuntu locked up with nothing but black on the screen and I had to turn off my computer. When I powered back up Ubuntu wasn't in the boot list and Windows wouldn't boot either. Will spend some time to try to fix it and will post again if I figure it out.

This sounds like a great idea and I will probably give it a try again, but not till a few more people have been lab rats first.
