> Ye see a FLASK.

Ah, the golden years of computer gaming; men were men, women were men, and games were interactive fiction. Perhaps the most epic of these text adventures was the Zork series, spanning six games, multiple spin-offs, and expansive intricately described environments. In fact, that’s the whole thing about these games– players don’t actually see anything– its all about your imagination.

Perhaps not so thrilled about having to visualize where the hell he was, Steven Roy set out over 20 years ago on a cartographical task never before attempted by gamer: to create a visual map of the Zork world. A small portion of the completed map is shown above.

Mighty impressive. I remember making maps of various Infocom games when I was a lad. Oh wait, that really wasn’t that long ago…

Ah the days of my C64 and Zork I II and III.
I remember making my map, might still be in the basement, even if it was around 1983…

Still have all 3 Zork games as a small zip file each on my thumbdrive, for when I get bored at work.

Hey thanks for this map and the memories! When I was a kid I use to play this on a Compaq “luggable” back in the early 80’s. I remember getting a xerox copy of this map.
