I’ve been meaning to pick up a pair of good earbuds for at least the past two years, but I’ve never really been able to justify the expense when my hacked iPhone earbuds are “good enough.” I gotta say though, today’s Amazon special on the Shure E2c’s has me reaching for my wallet. Normally going for a full Benjamin, you can snap them up today for a cool 40 bucks. Anyone have a pair of these? Worth buying, or should I keep holding out for a better deal? [via]

I have them, and I love ‘em. Huge upgrade compared to the standard iPod earbuds. Thanks for bringing this up, I’ll be recommending it today to friends and family.

  2. Adam Jackson says:

    Yea. I have the E4c and E500s.

I can’t think of anyone that needs these but it’s a good deal.

  3. Jason says:

Love mine. The sound is spectacular. But you have to get used to the feel, as they stick in your ear pretty far in order to block out other sound.

Good deal. I have a pair of Shure’s, and if you ride the metro, you need them (or else you will end up def). And the quality is pretty good (better than your iphone buds).

My real question is, what justifies the expense of something like that? do they use ferrofluids or niobium as magnets for the speakers or something? maybe an exotic extraterrestrial material that’s never been spoken of to the general public? some of these earbuds have even more outrageous price tags. I guess my real question is, for something so small, what makes the cost so big?

I have these and I think they’re worth the $100 they normally cost . They do feel very different in the ear than the iPod style earphones but not uncomfortable. The first time you fly with a set of these and realize how much noise you don’t hear on the plane you will wonder how you every traveled without them.

I think this is a great deal.

  7. Chris says:

    Everyone, Thanks I just ordered.

  8. Nate MC says:

Damn, I just spent $99 on a new set two weeks ago to finally replace my pair that were stolen last October…

Too bad I tossed the packaging last week.
Good deal though, love those headphones.

  9. KNK says:

Yea, I have a pair myself and really enjoy them. I highly recommend them. Alsol at that price it’s a steal so don’t pass it up!

  10. Masta' B says:

Thanks! I just ordered them too.

    …cheaper than used on ebay!

  11. Bagster says:

too bad that amazon.com don’t ship to canada, and that amazon.ca don’t have this item…btw the link you posted is not a link to the deal (you must use the link in the right in “More Buying Choices”)

  12. Megan says:

I saw this on Gizmodo this morning, I think it’s a great deal! One of the only times I’ve taken advantage of an Amazon Gold Box special.

  13. Dean says:

The Shure E2C are about the same level as the Creative earplugs whoms name I forgot.

I’d maybe buy them as secondary earplugs so I actually got some and don’t have to carry around my Sennheiser HD25 around all the time. But it would only make sense if I would also have a secondary mp3 player for the Gym or something.

Well endresult of this comment: Meh

  16. Myke says:

Wow I almost purchased these last week. Good thing I held out!

  17. seth says:

i was on the fence between these and a pair of v-moda vibes. i read a LOT about both on the head-fi.org forums and ultimately decided on the v-moda vibes as they were both the same price. i’d of bought the e2c’s just based on the better price had this deal of been available a few months back. i think you can’t go wrong with these, the sennheisers or the v-moda’s
