Payment Via SMS Soon To Become A Reality With GPay

Google, ever encroaching on PayPal, has filed a patent that apparently shows how to use a cellphone to make a payment via Google Payments. Now as Google payments stands it is not really popular at the moment, I can imagine the user base for GPay will be even smaller – my gut says Google may have some real promotions happening real soon to push the product.

Take the day off, damn it Dan!
I think paypal needs to get some competition so that the users can get there rights back…. I encourage any company to offer a paypal like service even if its google….
Paypal has mobile services. It would be great to send money via SMS to a phone number, but I can’t imagine leaving that capability unlocked. Given that how much easier is SMS-based services going to be than what paypal has now?
This service is already available through Obopay. I’ve had my account with them for a while now. The real nice thing is that when you open an account, they give you $5 to start. You can also make $5 for referring people (which I’ll refrain from doing here). Anyone who’s interested in it can check out their main page at obopay.com.
