America is the most armed country in the world with 90 out of 100 citizens owning a firearm.

About 4.5 million of the 8 million new guns manufactured worldwide each year are purchased in the United States, it said. [...] ndia had the world’s second-largest civilian gun arsenal followed by Germany, France, Pakistan, Mexico, Brazil and Russia

    I don’t understand, coming from the Netherlands you hardly ever hear of anyone being shot here … surely if you got rid of guns then less people would die – right?? Seems simple to me …

  2. Jon says:

    This just means that few people have a lot of guns. It doesn’t literally mean 90% of america has a gun. Maybe that 15% has 80% of the guns.

  3. Marc says:

    Yeah, that statement is just plain false.

    no, guns make america safer not less safe.

    if you are in a country that has no guns but enjoys alcohol (think New Zealand, Ireland, the UK, wherever) and you are downtown on a weekend then more likely you will get into a fight since everyone there likes to punch each others heads in,

    but if you are in america there is none of this nonsense because everyone is unsure who is armed and who is not and you can defend yourself if need be.

    also home invasions are a big problem in other countries but in the US this is not a problem cause you can shoot the burglar that enters your home (at least in texas and under certain conditions).

    i think a country that has lots of guns in the citizens hands is a safe country.

    @XGODX

    The USA has more gun related deaths than any other first world country.
    I wish I could remember the exact numbers but most first world countries have between 10-250 gun deaths a year. The USA has over 11000.

    I live in the UK and my home has never been invaded and I’ve never even heard of anyone’s house being invaded.

    And no, not everyone “likes to punch each others heads in”.
    Sure there are people that’ll go out looking for a fight but they exist everywhere.
    So don’t try to tell me that’s because guns are illegal here.
