Yahoo! Mail Out of Beta
Yahoo!’s mail service is now out of beta. The super slick mail service changed to a very AJAX-like feel some time ago and it’s good to see not every single product out there is going to try to hide behind a “beta” tag forever. While it seems pretty nice I have to wonder if anyone is jumping ship with this. I personally just love the way my Gmail works and can’t see myself moving over.
Yahoo!’s mail does have the advantage of unlimited storage but the lack of POP3 access may be a deal breaker for some. SMS support is getting a lot of hype as well, but is that such a big deal? I can send text messages via MSN messenger (not sure about Yahoo!) and it seems to me that people would have an IM client open more than they would mail in their browser.
All in all this is looking like a give and take. While unlimited storage from Yahoo! is great, people are genuinely willing to pay for more storage with Gmail which is probably not that many people considering the storage is still quite a lot. What are your thoughts on the new Yahoo! Mail?

If there were no ads in the E-mails you send then I would consider…
3 gigs from Google is enough for now, so why change? Paranoia maybe :-)

I love Yahoo! but it doesn’t love Safari or Camino… i still have to use the last-century old Yahoo! Mail =(

Yahoo has been trying to get me (and I assume everyone else) to switch to this for a while now. It’s painfully slow. I’ll stick with the old (quick and simple) interface so long as they let me.
Oh, and I just checked it again to make sure it’s just as slow now that it’s out of beta, and it is still slow, but also still claims to be in beta?

Same here.. Its still beta for me (Yahoo! 7 Australia).. i think maybe some of the Yahoo Server (like US) has offed the beta version

They’re updating them slowly. Basically what you do is when you log in, ALT+left click on the yahoo logo, and then a little dialog box pops up.
the last line in the box has an address: it’s like web _ _ _ _ _.mail.re3.com (five numbers are in the blanks)
the first three numbers after web are your “farm number”
and the higher it is, the closer to the bottom of the list you are in waiting for the beta to be dropped.
I’m in farm 843 so I’ll be one of the last to get my beta dropped! ARRRRGHHHHH
it’s still not dropped!
