have an iPhone? installed SSH to hack it?… did you change your root password?… NO?!?!?!

With more tutorials cropping up all over the web in regards to tweaking and hacking the iPhone you’ll start to see the need for SSH to be installed. Come to think of it, before App Installer this was a requirement. Even us here at Uneasy are releasing Tuts that use SSH to prevent the need for jailbreak or iphuc and a reboot.

Now with all of this said we felt it our duty to inform our readers of an easy way to keep their phones secure (even while they pick them apart ;) ). Unaware to most when you install the OpenSSH package your ROOT password defaults to “dottie”. This being a huge security hole in the phone it’s (beyond) highly recommended you change it immediately.

So I took some time and wrote up a small Shell script that anyone using an Mac, iPhone, and the iPhone SSH server can take advantage of to easily change their password and keep their phone locked down from prying eyes.
