Backup Your Computers Data – For Free
Continuing with our free theme, nothing is more sacred then the data on your hard drive. Lets face it we all have less then desirable backup habits. Mozy is designed to make backups mind numbingly simple.

Mozy is a secure (128-bit SSL encryption for data transfer and 448-bit Blowfish encryption for data storage) free 2GB service that is available to Mac and PC users. Mozy scans your hard disk and then allows you to selectively backup your data based upon category, directory or type of file.
To sign up for the free storage, Mozy makes you complete a survey which will then send you once-a-week targeted advertising so I suggest using a spam address. But for what it’s worth the email comes directly from Mozy, and they swear they don’t give your e-mail address to advertisers. Also for Mozy free you are limited to 4 file restores a month.
Mozy is available for free for Mac’s and PC’s with 2GB of storage and about $60 a year for unlimited storage.
Anyone care to guess what the next post will concern?

Hmm . . . does it really count as free if 99% of people cannot possibly back up all their data in the space allocated to free users? I’d suggest this is more like a paid service with a little preview option—nothing wrong with that; just had higher hopes from the title of the post (which is missing an apostrophe).
I use the 2gbs free for my computer at the office to backup desktop, documents and photos. It’s my work computer so excel docs don’t take up much.
At home, I’ve been meaning to sign up for Mozy for a complete backup solution. Is unlimited really “unlimited”? I have about 1.25 terabytes.
I have 200GB up there and there are no complaints.
But you might want to consider Jungle Disk
I’ve got quite a bit backed up with Mozy and it’s been great. And I don’t think they do the email thing anymore. At least it’s been almost a year since I’ve gotten an email from them.
