Canon Announces 40D SLR

In photography’s battle of the brands, Nikon and Canon fight for the top spot as the manufacturer of choice for consumers and professionals alike. In recent months, Nikon edged ahead of Canon in the consumer field with the pint-sized D40x priced to compete with Canon’s more expensive point-and-shoot systems. While Nikon is betting on the low end, Canon today reenforced it’s pro-sumer offerings with the announcement of the 40D.
Capable of 6.5 frames-per-second and sporting a 10.1 megapixel CMOS sensor, the 40D also features live framing (like on point-and-shoots) with its large 3 inch LCD. Get your hands on one today for $1,299 (body only) or $1,499 (with 18-135mm). [via]
