EA delivers four game titles

I’ll admit that I am just now getting around to computer games. No joke. Just last week my co-workers convinced me to install Steam on my Mac Pro via Windows Vista (Boot Camp). It’s freakin’ awesome – and oh so xx number of years ago!

Anyway, after killing some time on the local network playing Deathmatch with my cohorts, I get this gaming itch at random hours. Unfortunately, my Mac Pro stays at the office and my MacBook does not have nearly enough GPU power to let me continue my gaming whilst at home. You can understand why I was mildly excited to hear that EA is finally delivering some of those sharp looking games announced at that special Apple ‘vent thing called WWDC (whatever that is).

Macworld has the scoop:

Electronic Arts (EA) late Friday announced that it is shipping four of its promised six new games for the Macintosh, including Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, Need for Speed Carbon, Battlefield 2142 and Command & Conquer Tiberium Wars.

Users can order the games from Apple’s online store today. Need for Speed Carbon and Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix are both going to be available in Apple retail stores beginning Tuesday, August 21, while Battlefield 2142 and Command & Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars will be available a week later, on the 28th.

You can expect me to be at the local Apple Store picking up a copy of Battlefield 2142, C&C, and maybe Need for Speed Carbon. Are you planning on picking up some of the new titles?

    What is “Steam”?

    ** SLAP **

Steam is the content and gaming network setup by Valve a few years back, it’s where you play HL2, CS 1.6, CS Source, DOD, DOD source, etc.

I have wasted many many many many hours of my life on the steam network. I’m glad to see more games coming to Mac because I was getting sick of the age old joke “what games can you play on your mac?… Photoshop?”. However, I am sad to say I don’t get to play, nor have the patience anymore, between 14 year olds calling me n00b and hackers (HEADSHOT HEADSHOT HEADSHOT HEADSHOT) gaming on the Steam network has become more enraging than joyful.

I did just have a good 2 hour session of WoW though (on my macbook pro might I add) and I feel dirty ;) (this game should come with a Surgeon Generals Warning).

Meh. Even if I had the money for a powerful Mac, I would still stick with my current set-up. Mac for work and homebuilt PC for play.

By the way Derek, what games are you playing through Steam?

Sorry but i have nothing good to say about EA.

Many because i have been asking there MMORPG team EA\Mythic to make linux & OS X clients for Dark Age of Camelot and up coming Warhammer Online. For at lest 2 years. Getting the same response. ” There is not enough OS X and linux player in the world for use to devote time to making gaming clients for any OS other then windows.”

So sorry EA you get no love from me.
