Hmmm. Never heard of it. If it worked, and bundled w/ my DirecTV service? Oh yeah. Bye bye Zoomtown!

I had DirecTV’s satellite internet for a while when I lived out in the boonies. I always wanted broadband over powerlines to come out so we could have decent ping times, but it never did. Now that I know it’s also going to be provided by DirecTV, I NEVER want to use it. If they run the BPL the same way the run their satellite service, it’s going suck like no other. They had a 160mb Fair Access Policy that dropped your bandwidth to 56k speed if you went over. I could totally see them doing this again for the powerline service……jerks :(

I would have paid for it when I lived in KY in the Appalachian Mountains, but other than that, count me out. Here in florida after hurricane Katrina and Wilma our cable and internet came back before our electricity (and before someone goes WTF, we had a generator and an extension cord).
