The popular WordPress blogging system has always confused me with the roles and permission levels that an user can have. Users have to conform to roles which then create user capabilities. Confused yet? Try reading this. Even if you are not confused, sometimes you are not happy with the defaults provided.
A plugin called “Role Manager,” by Thomas Schneider allows you, a blog owner, to better understand, define and manage what authors can do on your blog on a granular level. If you find WordPress user permissions too constricting, you should give this plugin a try.
