PalmInfoCenter has snagged some spyshots of Palms forthcoming smartphone “Gandolf.” It is rumored to run the Palm OS (Nope its not dead yet) and will have a GSM radio (my sources also say there will be a CDMA variety as well on Sprint).

Hellooooooo Palm, Didn’t you hire John Rubinstein? You know, the guy behind the iPod. Do you have him tied up and gagged in some basement somewhere? Let this guy run wild with your R&D department. Don’t let this prototype see the light of day, if you do the press will eat you alive. [via]

    Say what you will, but Palm still has its fans. Ok, yeah, it’s not super pretty, but I really like their concept of making a mobile OS from scratch as opposed to “the other guys” who just crammed a desktop OS into a couple MB and called it good.

    lol, tied up

    Hey Aaron, don’t get me wrong. I’m a HUGE Palm fan. Figured long time readers would get a little sarcasm :P

    Gandolf images have been floating around for a while, but I’m surprised to see that Palm is still pushing forward after all the negative criticism it gets. You’d think they’d at least check the general opinion and make slight changes (or in this case, a full overhaul).

    @AARON
    thats possibly the worst reasoning I’ve heard to defend the Palm OS in quite some time.

    It looks like something a junior high schooler would use.
