Anatomy of a Leak

Confession: I had the new Spoon album, “Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga,” playing in my iTunes three weeks before its official release date– countless others had it much earlier. In this age of BitTorrent and the Pirate Party, this sort of thing certainly isn’t uncommon, but where exactly do these tasty releases come from? Spin magazine has an interesting breakdown of who leaks what and when, and what the big scary record companies are doing to try and stop it.
Music is only one facet of the so-called “scene.” Movies and games, even books and TV shows are popular fodder for the peg-legged set. What are some of your favorite sources for illicit plunder?
