We Are Addicted To Email
The annual AOL email usage survey is reporting that 15% of surveyed Americans say that they are “addicted to email” while 83% of surveyed Americans check email while on vacation.
The survey further reveals that residents of Washington, DC are the most email addicted people with, on average, two email accounts per person surveyed (I’ll refrain from political jokes here).
Do you consider yourself addicted to email? How many accounts do you have? How often do you check and on how many devices?

I’d probably be a total email addict if I had a Blackberry or some other device like that, but I find that checking email once or twice in the evening is plenty. Unless I’m expecting something, then I’m all over it from the time I’m home until the time I go to sleep. I have about 5 email accounts, but all for different things. I’m thinking that people, at least younger people, are probably more addicted to texting than anything else.
Addicted? Seems so harsh a term for a simple practice…
But yes, I suppose I am. Unlike the Social Networking friends of mine (who skip the whole e-mail idea and use Facebook instead), I use e-mail constantly, check it constantly (every 10 or so minutes, sometimes more) whether I’m at home or on the go. It’s sad, but so much happens through e-mail, and it is almost necessary these days to do so (especially when you are into technology related fields). Oh well, at least I’m always on top of things :)
Addicted, ya I guess so…
I have 15 email accounts. All for different purposes. Check about every 15 minutes or so while working, but otherwise, I dont check it when im mobile.
I have 4 accounts, a .Mac one for my Mac which is my primary one, a Yahoo! Mail account that I use for registering gadgets, an Gmail account for the storage (.Mac isnt big enough Steve!) and a Hotmail one for MSN and Myspace junk!
All are checked on my MacBook Pro, and when I am mobile, my Blackberry.
