Tabblo, owned by HP, has created a tool that lets bloggers add cool well formatted printing features to WordPress or Movable Type blogs. The tool, available as a simple plugin, lets readers pick and choose (with check boxes) which posts they’d like to print. With a click of a button, the result is clearly formatted and tagged PDF that can saved, emailed and printed.
The photobook-ish feature of Tabblo makes sense, but I can’t see why anyone would want to print out 99.9999% of all blog posts (it makes the best part—links—worthless!). There are few posts with walkthroughs or code samples or instructions for something-or-other where a hardcopy might be useful, but even there, the standard browser print feature is usually sufficient. As far as clean formatting . . . this can be achieved with a special stylesheet defined for printing.
Can anyone help me figure out which problem we’re trying to solve here?
